Advice on research

I was hoping someone would be able to advise or point me in the right direction by recommending some good reading material as I am a complete beginner when it comes to building my own PC.

I am currently doing some research on putting together a component list & to start with I am looking at motherboards & reading reviews in PC magazines.

However, half way through they lose me with all the terminology they use for example "the striker extreme took it to it's limit with a 360MHz FSB".

I want to study each component in more detail so I know what they're talking about in these reviews so can anyone recommend a book or website which is actually up to date with todays technology explaining components & all the terminology in more detail?

Thanks.

You're already here.

Just read the stickies, lurk a little, use the search function and don't be scared to ask about whatever you're not certain of. I can honestly say that this is by far the friendliest and most welcoming HW/SW forum I've used in a long time. :)
