Hello Overclockers, sorry in advance for the rambling wall of text!
I am seeking some advice on selling a couple of PC's in regards to their price and some other issues. Thanks for any help you can give me, I have never sold PC's before but would like to get a little bit of cash out of them instead of putting them to waste.
My brother and I have recently got new PC's (well he got my old 965 BE + 5770 build, I built a new 2600k + gtx 580) so I have a couple of old quad-core PC's I want to offload on gumtree (anyone sold on it before? it seems less hassle than youtube as it is local).
They are (now, got rid of dust etc) refurbished ADVENT QC8003 and Advent QC7003 PC's with some changes (took the Blu-Ray drives out and hard discs to use in our new PC's which have been/will be replaced).
For the QC8003 it has:
Motherboard Intel DG45ID
CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 (2.33GHz)
RAM 6GB DDR2
GPU nVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT 512MB
HDD Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 9 (120gb 7200rpm, taken from an old PC, very old but still seems good, should I replace this with something newer?)
CD DRIVE LG GH22NS50.AUAA 22x SATA DVDRW
Network onboard mobo LAN + PRO-NETS WP61R2 Wireless LAN
The QC7003 is better than that now here are the specs:
Motherboard Intel DG45ID
CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 (2.33GHz)
RAM 8GB DDR2
GPU Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT 1gb
HDD None as of yet (can anyone recommend a good cheap hdd that will increase the value?)
CD Drive LG GH22NS50.AUAA 22x SATA DVDRW (to be installed)
Network onboard mobo LAN + PRO-NETS WP61R2 Wireless LAN
Here's what the tower looks like (both look the same), no screens, mice or keyboards will come with them. The SD card and other slots might be useful to some people too.
And the inside of the QC 7003 (needing HDD and CD Drive installed) with the 9800 GT. In the QC 8003 (one with 9600 GT) I changed the cooler master heat sink seen in the photo to an arctic freezer pro 7 as it was broken.
Both will come with Windows Vista preinstalled with genuine CD Key (windows sticker on side of PC), downloaded the right version of Windows Vista and put on disc for buyer's convenience (PC didn't come with a windows disc so had to make my own), or should I just give it to them without the Windows disc but with it preinstalled incase they think the burned copy is dodgy?
So I'm just wondering around what figure I should be asking for each one? Or if anyone has had experience in selling PC's who could give some advice (anyone sold on gumtree before?). For the one with the 9800GT I was thinking of asking around £200-300 maybe, or is that too high? They are quad cores (that cpu seems to go for around over £100 new now) and the GPU is alright, though I should probably replace the HDD to something newer? It can play all games out now (depending on the game usually on medium). And maybe ask for 150 for the one with the 9600 GT if I add a new HDD.
If I should replace that old HDD and I need one for the other PC anyway what would you recommend for very cheap but good HDD's to put into the two PCs to increase their value?
Thanks again! Appreciate any advice you can give me.
