Guys just wondering whats the best way for me to set up my hd's and vista install

I currently have 2x 400 gig western digital AAKS
1x500 gig AAKS im using as storage.

Currently i have the one 400 gig drive set up for windows and my programs with the spare 400 just there for page file, lots of people ahve told me to raid it etc ect..

what does everyone recon, mainly i use my pc to do 2d and 3d work and playing games on...

Weekend im doing a fresh install, so whats the best way for me to use these drive and raid or ide ??
Any more info needed?

Well its personal choice, you can either set them up in RAID0 which will give you faster performance (20-40% depending) and means you have the full 800 gig available, or you can use RAID1 which basically mirrors the data, takes longer to write data (as it has to rite it twice) but can read data quicker, this adds redundancy so if you get an error on one drive you dont lose all your data, however you only have the 400 gig available. either way you can leave your 500 gig separate as storage

sell them get 2 smaller drives in raid 0 for OS and Apps (pref SSD's if you can afford them) which will get you nice performance, then a nice 1TB drive for storage which is pretty cheap these days :)

Why sell the two 400 gigs is there a problem with using them in a raid setup ??
How is the other drive used in raid 0 i understand raid one uses the other as a mirror, i guess raid 0 what i need as i just want general performance increase. I have the 500 gig to back up to.

well with raid 0 if one of your drives goes then you lose all the data from both so its best to have a large storage not in raid 0 for stuff you dont want to lose then the applications and OS on the raid 0 which you can easily reinstall if anything goes wrong. If you could afford 4 drives having your storage in raid 1 so their mirrored you would have a easy backup setup too.
