Hi,

I am just about to buy these on ebay - 50KG Rubber Dumbbell and just needed a second opinion/look.

I did phone the guy and he said that they were 25kg on each dumbbell, which is what I'm looking for. I know some places, Argos included, sell a product at 50kg but it's only possible to put 45kg on the bar. But before I buy (I always double check anything I buy on ebay) I'd just like a second opinion on these weights.

Good price? Good product? And will the plates all fit on to each dumbbell.
Thanks.

That's a ridiculous price! There are a few 60kg sets on eBay (was last week and generally always is) that are cheaper than that!

Hmm. I did have a look but couldn't find anything? I put Dumbbells into the search and it didn't come up with much??

Yeah just checked myself and can't see them at the mo. I'll have a look later see if i can see the ones I bought in my history. Was from an online shop.

I've had a pretty good look now and for what they are the price isn't too bad. For a start they're rubber which is a big plus for me, iron are always cheaper. There are cheaper out there including a nice iron set I found for £130 and free postage.
I didn't realise how expensive weights are :)

Was a random make, will check when home.

Thinking about it my solid 45's were cheaper than those in your link!
Typical eBay, good some days terrible on others lol.

Thanks, I'll just have to keep checking. I want to start working out again! It's been nearly a month since I lifted anything :(

I got a pair of olympic DB's with the rubber plates, as good as they are it's ******* awkward doing things like DB bench, I would like some fixed DB's but they are expensive

I'd hate dumbbells that you'd have to keep unscrewing and taking weight off and putting more on etc so annoying lol.

Awkward in what way? Are the plates too big??

Well with fixed DB's they have a flat bottom so you can rest them on your thighs before kicking them up, with the Olympic ones you can't, also the handles are very long compared to fixed. But once you get used to them they sure do come in handy.

I didn't think about that! I always rest them on my knees before using them. Argh, I didn't know putting together a home gym would be so difficult.

I usually work on £1/kg of weight. 10kg steel plates tend to cost around £10. Rubber ones i've go at £11.
I'd certainly prefer rubber weights, make dumbbell curls easier as on the negative you can drop them to the floor, let them bounce back into your hands and curl...rinse and repeat. :D

For the love of god...don't take that last sentence seriously, but rubbers will help avoid breaking stuff if you do drop them unintentionally.

 Freaking testicles.....!!!
Last time i looked...about a year ago all the plates i looked at were about £1/kg, they're nearer £2/kg now. Yee gads!

Sorry for the misinfo guys, never thought they'd almost double in price in a year or so.

I've never seen plates near 1£ per kg tbh :p

Strengthshop.co.uk do new plates for £1.50 per kg, they sell 50kg plates :) :)
