Hi all im looking at buying these components, I will be using the computer mainly to play games, and thought as the new battlefield 3 is not that far away from being released, it would be a good time to do a new build, as my current build is a few years old.

Heres the parts i have chosen:

Intel i5 2500k - Retail
Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4 Intel P67 Express Socket 1155 Motherboard
Corsair Memory Vengeance Blue 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz Dual Channel
1280MB EVGA GTX 570 HD Superclocked
Corsair HX 850W Modular Power Supply
Cooler Master 690 II Advance Dominator Nvidia Edition

If anyone has any advice on which parts would be better
(around the same price range) please feel free to comment.

Many Thanks

Im going to be doing custom watercooling so the heatsink would not be much use to me im afraid, as nice as the MSI board looks and read up good reviews about this, I have never used MSI before, are they as good as what people have been saying and would you choose MSI over Gigabyte/Asus?

With regards to the Graphics card. The non HD version should offer better cooling for the case as its reference design and exhausts all hot air out of the case. (Larger exhaust slot, etc.) I'm getting the Ref. design one, but its personal preference on Temp. vs. noise.

I certainly would have picked a MSI board over the others if I didnt find a killer price on my ASrock board.

ASUS P67 had a bad reputation to start with but there hasnt been any complaints for a few months now, theres even a thread titled "ASUS P67 range to be avoided?" somewhere around these forums.

As for Gigabyte, I like there P67 range, but there Z68 range of boards are naff, with a lot of them not having the full basic features a Z68 motherboard from ASUS/MSI/ASrock has.

Sell the heatsink for ££££

Do EVGA do custom coolers for the GTX570 range? never really looked.

What is the differences between the advanced and advanced nvidia coolermaster case? is it just the styling?.
The only problem with the msi board with the free cooler is funny placment of headers apparently, only thing that put me off it.

Good point on the Non-HD version as i will need the Ref Card to watercool.

thanks, I think I will have along think about MSI and just read a few more reviews 1st before making a decision. Im not sure if EVGA do their own custom coolers to honest, same as you have not really looked.

Regarding the Advanced Nvidia case, im pretty sure its just cosmetic features that are different, E.G: the Nvidia sign on the side of the case, green fans and so on, its the reason that I am going for this case as im going to be using Mayhems Green UV Liquid, but have just seen that Coolermasters are doing a White CM-690 II Advanced, so thinking I might have to get that, but dont want it looking a X-Box 360 = FAIL! lol

Awesome, awesome case. I should know as I have one =D

I also have the 1280MB EVGA GTX 570 HD Superclocked, did originally want a reference one but the place I bought it didn't have any of them in stock (at least for around the same price).
One bad thing about it is that (as previously stated), it blows some of the hot air into the case and so heating everything else up in the process. Nice card though, I like that the power sockets are at the end of the card, i think it makes the cables look a bit tidier.

Another note, I have an MSI board. Not one of the higher end ones (see sig) but I like it! No problems at all with it when setting everything up (and this was my first build!)

Yeah the CM 690 does look like a very nice case, but my main issue is if I stick XSPC RX240 in the bottom of the case I dont know if it will fit when i put in the Corsair HX 850W PSU, read that the PSU is 180mm long, so in a pick of a pickle :(
