Advice on this spec for video editing

Please give me feedback on the following build. It's actually a prebuilt system that can be had for £597 (which seems awfully cheap compared to buying the parts separate!), but I've linked to the parts here at overclockers. It also includes Six Core and Division 2 game.

If I was building from scratch then I would probably change some of the parts, but as it's prebuilt there's only a few items that can be changed and have limited choice.

Anyway.... I'll be using it for gopro video editing and day to day stuff. It's not really going to be for gaming use, but I may play the odd game if it takes my fancy. I don't have any intention of overclocking either.

I upgraded the motherboard to the ASUS Prime B450 Plus, there is the option to get the B450-F STRIX Gaming one for another £25 but I'm not sure if that's worth it?

I've left the GPU as the standard one, as I said I won't be using this for gaming much, mainly video and photo editing. The next option up is the ASUS GTX 1060 6GB Phoenix for £65, but I don't think I need to get that one do I?

I have spare SSDs that I would add, or I may also look at getting a M.2 SSD

Thanks in advance for any advice

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £762.59 (includes shipping: £11.70)

this isn't the best board to be running the processor at full tilt for long rendering sessions.
b450-f strix is basically similar.

but...as you're getting it on the cheap. can't really argue with the price. :)

There's an option for the ASUS Prime X470 Pro for another £90

To start with I'll just be using the gopro quick software, but in time as I get better with the editing I'll move onto something else. I've not really dabbled much with video editing so just starting with the basics to begin with.

Da Vinci Resolve is free for personal use, I'd recommend that over the GoPro software when you're ready: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/uk/products/davinciresolve/ (scroll down to the bottom)

oof...ouch. not worth it.

I didn't think so!

I've read a few reviews of the ASUS Prime B450-Plus and it seems to do OK.

Cheers, I'll have a look at that. It does say that it relies more on the GPU rather than the CPU, so I'm wondering if the GPU I've listed would be good enough? Hopefully it would get me through a year or so before I might look to upgrade it.

What graphics card would people recommend for my setup above? I’ve always the option to take it out and sell it, then use the proceeds to go towards another one. Used ones seem to go for around £120 on eBay. Should I be looking for one with more memory?

6gb version ! that pre-build looks a good price .

4k davinci you'll be looking at 1080ti levels of power and 8 core ryzen , even Prem you'd want 8 core but gtx 1060 would be fine with it

So upgrading to the ASUS GTX 1060 6GB Phoenix would be a worthy upgrade for an additional £65?

i doubt you're going to see any better value (specs-wise) upgrading. for £597

this is pretty good.
it may not be A++ rated, but you're not spending A++ money either...

I know, for the money it seems
to be a good starter machine for me and a huge performance upgrade on what my laptop currently offers me.

Just reading various reviews of all the components and they all seem to do pretty well.

Currently hovering around the buy button lol.
