Advice on this spec

Hi,

My missus has been doing a lot of image rendering recently for her Uni course and our current PC just isn't cutting it when performing this kind of task (31 hours to render the last image she did ) so I've been tasked with looking at a new build.

Primarily this will be used for image rendering in Alias, CAD in Pro Engineer etc but I'll be trying to sneak on and play some games at some point as well. With that in mind and working on the assumption that more cores = faster rendering (i may be wrong?) I've come up with the below spec that I wanted to get your thoughts on.

You'll notice their isn't a graphics card included as I'll be putting the 7900GTX that I already own in the build for now until the 9XXX series come out. I've also got an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro but I'm considering upgrading this to a Tuniq Tower as shown in the spec...again your thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Good spec. The Antec 900 is a bit of a dust magnet, but I have one and I can live with it.

Allot of folks on the forum rave about the P182 as an alternative.

Thanks for the repsonses,

I had a look at the P182 but had heard that the door is a bit fragile...don't know if anyone can comment on this?

I was also looking at the Lian Li PC7 PLus 2 but as this is a midi case wasn't sure about fitting everything in....especially the Reaper RAM and a new graphics card when that arrives

Also, do you think getting the Tuniq Tower is worth it even though I have the AC 7 Pro. I will be overclocking!!!

Finally, can anyone confirm that quad core will see a significant improvement in rendering speeds in Alias ImageStudio over our current machines which are:

Desktop: P4 3.4Ghz, 2Gb RAM
Lappy: C2D T7300 2.0Ghz, 2Gb RAM
