I am building a computer at the moment and I was wondering if anyone could confirm the suitability of this setup! Last thing I want is to have omitted something

Components:
Case: NZXT Phantom 410 Enthusiast Midi Tower

CPU: Intel i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket 1150

CPU Cooling: Corsair Hydro H80 Liquid Cooling

MOBO: Asus B85 Plus Intel B85 Socket 1150

GPU: GTX 650Ti

RAM: Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB)

PSU: Corsair CX 500W V2

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

OD: LG SATA DVDRW

Monitor: Asus Sonicmaster MX239H 23"

Its just over my budget of £1000 on Overclockers; just if anyone would recommend it/ advise on other parts?

Thanks,
JC

Quite a few things I would change. So your budget is £1000? Looking at your sig I'm guessing you already have a PC. Any parts reusable? Things like the CD drive, HDD and case?

I think you can do better for your cash, certainly on the GPU, minimum I would suggest is the 270X.....

YOUR BASKET
1 x Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Dual-X OC 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Card £229.99

I wouldn't bother with a H80. This mobo comes with a free cooler anyway but if you want the watercooling look you could always drop in a H100 (the refurb'd ones are ~£40) some time later.

There is a trial for windows 8 you can use free for 3 months. Do that and it saves you a pretty penny now, if you dislike windows 8 you can buy 7 in the new year no harm done.

Its a build for my dad as an office computer. The emphasis was really on speed but to have a decent enough build you can just always upgrade year-on-year.

Im upgrading my own system so I already have a Hard Drive, Graphics card and Optical Drive for this one.

Whats up with Windows 8? I mean I turned a blind eye to it when it came out because of the bad press, NSA backdoor and that, is it a worthy OS?

He looks at Word/ Excel/ Pictures/ Share Dealing is there maybe perhaps an altogether better system for these tasks?

Maybe even cheaper if the graphics are overkill?

Use the IGP gfx in the CPU, if he wants to play a game or two then add a proper gfx card later?

You and your fancy cases :D

Seriously though that last build from stulid would blow your dads socks off for office use!

As for windows 8, I've only used it for 5mins. It's aimed more at tablets so a bit fiddly with a mouse but I haven't got enough experience with it to give you a proper answer sorry.

Very true, whats your views on Windows 8 though?

I don't hate it but I do prefer 7. I get what MS are trying to do making the GUIs for it's different devices similar. It does boot fast but I suspect to this to be because it lacks the "F8 feature" of windows 7 during boot up. It also removes the silly RAM limitations you have with the Windows 7 versions which is a bonus.

Doesn't sound like you need a GPU at all to be honest fella. A silenced case would make sense for an office PC but I'd prefer the fully enclosed Corsair 330R to the Ghost.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM £259.99

1 x Adata XPG Xtreme v1.0 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C10 2133MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (AX3U2133XW8G10-2X) £129.95
1 x AOC E2450SWDAK 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £109.99
1 x Gigabyte Z87-D3HP Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £109.99
1 x Corsair Carbide 330R Silent Mid Tower Case - Black £74.95

Total : £1,003.25 (includes shipping : £17.85).

That's going "balls out" and having the i7K with it's Hyperthreading and 16GB of fast RAM to make for an excellent all round workstation. The OEM CPU does have a shorter warranty and no heatsink but you get a good one with the mobo anyway.

Best of luck with the build bud we look forward to seeing what you choose :)

^^ As awesome as this is I have to say it's complete overkill. Saying that, if you want to spend all your budget on it then why the hell not!

Well the business card is maxed out for this month so ill have to wait until next week to put it through!

The benefit is that I was going to upgrade to the, Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 WindForce 3x OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card GV-N770OC-4GD)
and let him have my GTX 650Ti.

Certainly food for thought, Ill keep yous updated!
