I have around £400 to spend on a new TV next week, I'm looking at between 40 to 43" screen size max as we don't have a big living room.

Not interested in a cheap 4K, as i rather have a decent 1080p & it seems a lot of last years good TV's are now being discounted to within my price range.

So any recommendations on what to get.

Samsung H6400 40" or the 48" version i know you say your living room ain't big but what is the distance from seating to viewing. We got both of these TV's and there not that big compaired to older TV's the Samsung H6400 is fantastic and you might think 48" may sound big. But when we set ours up we was suprised with the thin bezel

Its a 2014 model but its still a top seller

It's only around 7 to 8 feet at most I think, I currently have an old Sony 40" LCD with very thick bezels, which tbh has served me well for the past 6 years & doesn't look out of place so a 48" would actually work out better due to the bezels being so slim these days I shall keep the Samung in mind.

We sit roughly the same distance away around 6 half feet and it looks great. You wont find a better 1080p tv for the price its highly recommended in this forum and many others :)

You won't get a good 50" 1080p for £400 you will get a great 40" for that money but not 50" the 48" Samsung i mentioned is currently £499 which is a bargain just before Christmas it was £549 and there still selling very well and still been made due to it been a popular seller even though its a 2014 model

Isn't this only in HD format though? I have this Tv, but using mainly SD and it isn't that great.

Samsung H6400. Really are excellent telly boxes with top notch 1080p picture. And that's the whole point, the PQ. As for SD content you can't polish a poo.

If you watch a lot of HD like films exc then anything in SD is going to look rubbish Doesn't matter what tv it is i have sky HD boxes connected and they look fine in SD obviously no where near as good as HD

I ordered my TV this morning decided to spend abit more & went for the Samsung UE48JU6400.
