Hi all. So I've been looking at these ultra wide monitors for an age now. The one thing that is putting me off though is what games actually look like running this res. I had a triple screen set up about three or four years ago and the stretching on the side monitors in games that had to be hacked around left a lot to be desired.

Can any one who has one of these monitors let me know how the games they play actually look and run please? Are they stretched? or does the game natively support that res? the last thing I want is to be running 1080p leaving lots of it doing nothing.

Cheers !

Oh yeah. Screen shots of games running at these resolutions would also be very welcome so I can get an idea of what to expect, should I change my mind from 1600p.

It's all here http://www.wsgf.org/mgl
Some info might not be up to date, UW screens being quite new, but generally speaking, if the game supports multimonitor, it should work.
The games that don't support it stay in 16:9 with back bars on the sides (although you can choose to stretch if you are into that). Same goes for every other 16:9 content (TV shows, some movies), but you can zoom/crop to make it fill the screen.
When it works it's a bliss.

Most games work fine but its not 100% flawless over all games. I also find the effect hit and miss - some games the wider aspect is jaw dropping immense but others it makes it feel like your interfacing the game looking through a letter box or something and you don't get the same intimacy as on a 16:9 or 16:10 type panel.

That depends on the implementation in the game, the ones you are talking about are marked as "vert-" (cut off top and bottom) on wsgf.org site, and the best case is "hor+".

If it makes you feel better, you can see the UW screens as normal 16:9 screens, but that can have additional 30% of space for supported content, and of course all your desktop works/needs get the full experience.
And when it does not work it's still less of a waste than 2 whole screens just sitting there doing nothing. :p

If you are worried about IPS bleed then the Samsung S34E790C is the model to consider as it is the only 34" 21:9 monitor on the market at the moment that doesn't use the LG IPS panel - they use their own VA panel instead.

The only problem is that OC don't have any stock at the moment and it seems to be endlessly delayed with very little information forcoming...

Not just games where its actually letter boxed or vertical FOV problems, some games, especially ones with 3rd person, can sometimes feel like your playing them looking through a letter box even when not actually "letter boxed" on the monitor. Not a problem with most games though.
