This is my current spec, it's lovely but I'd like to know if I have any room for upgrade, as some games start to bring it to its knees, or if I'm better off completly rebuilding which I'd prefer because building computers is fun!

This computer is mainly used for gaming purpose, sound, movies and internet.

Intel Core Duo E2180 2.0Ghz 800Mhz 1Mo/S775
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3
Cooler Artic Cooling Freezer 7Pro
Miditower Antec Nine Hundred
Asus GeForce 8800GTS (640MB / PCIe)
DDR2 2x 1 GB DIMM Corsair Twin2X
500 GB SpinPoint P160

Depends on your budget... cheapest option may be a to upgrade the CPU to a Quad and add an extra 2gb of ram... then perhaps a better VGA once we know were Fermi stands in the market, although, for a good boost and little cost, you could put in a ATI 5770 which in total should see you gaming for the next year without trouble.

I've tinkered about and ended up with two different builds one i7 one i5.
Would I really benefit from an i7 build if I mainly do gaming or not?

I need to chose RAM, I have really no clue what to get, any advice?

Id recomend the i5, Id also recomend get the OEM cpu with aftermarket cooler, a freezer 7 pro rev 2, its actually cheaper than buying the retail, re RAM look at dual channel for your i5 triple channel if you go i7 (X58) balance fast speed with low latency and cost, depends what you want to spend really

Thanks for your answer, I'm wondering if I should pick a new case or if I keep my Antec nine hundred..

Ok, this seems to be it, I'm still not sure about i5 tho... Since I'm going to spend so much on that build shouldn't I go for i7 so I might upgrade easily later on when new processor are released?
What do you guys think?

tbh, I wouldnt bother wth a new case, but its your choice :)
If you get an i7, then you might want to get a H50 watercooler for the cpu - esp if you plan on overclocking it.
Getting an i7 is up to you, but do you really think you're going to see a huge performance difference for an additional £200?

I think you speak the truth :p
I won't really benefit from i7 that much, and it's quite pricey.
Also good point on the case, it is still in good condition just needs a good cleanup.

I came up with that, added an SSD since I freed up some money

No one knows the Alpenföhn Nordwand Rev B. CPU Cooler ?

Also here is the last change to my spec:

I think that looks like an awesome PC tbh :)

Research the cooler to see if you can find a more effective one for the money = more overclocking. You can always upgrade to an i7 down the line with that mobo, but you'll be fine with the i5 I think. I would love to have that setup...

So I got my parts but after checking I was actually wrong my old PSU is a Corsair 520W will this be able to power my new setup ?
