Folks, I was wondering if i can get a bit of advice about upgrading an existing machine or buying/building a new one.
I currently have a machine i built a while ago that has a failing mobo. The components are:
MOBO: Gigabyte EX58-Extreme
CPU: Intel Corei7-920 Bloomfield (LGA1366) @2.67GHz (tried to OC but it got way too hot and unstable even on low OCs)
RAM: Corsair Dominator DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10700 (667MHZ) 6GB
GPU: ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670
HDD1:Western Digital VelociRaptor 150GB 10000RPM SATA-II 16MB Cache - For OS
HDD2: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache
CASE: Antec 902 Nine Hundred Two Ultimate Gaming Case - Black
PSU: Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 850w

I understand currently that the best choice would be between Haswell-E X99 and the new Skylake processors (with Skylake being more expensive at present).
What has also got me thinking is form factor. With a baby now roaming my house I am thinking that moving to a Micro ATX form factor may be better for space compared to the Antec case.
I was looking at the OC machines but am not sure about the abilities or the chipsets as there seem to be more/different ones than ATX.
Adding a SSD for the OS would also be a good idea I feel now but am open to suggestions.

Primarily I want to use the machine for gaming, running a 24" monitor and a 46" HD TV (for gaming in the lounge) but also use my machine for picture and video editing, coding and general everyday use.
I am guessing after waiting this long that the current i7's will be better than my current one but not sure which of those would be equal or better (same with the GPU).

So after all that preamble can anyone suggest either what to upgrade the ATX machine to or a Micro ATX setup that I either get OC to build or order the bits and do it myself.
Forgot to add the price range I am looking at is up to £1000 - £1200.
Thank you for any advice.

Thank you Micky. Appreciate the guidance.
So M ATX has no real down side for what i am looking at at the moment? Great.
Also age old question Radeon Vs NVidia, what is the NVIDIA equivalent and are they behind atm?
