Advice on upgrade please

Currently using Athlon X2 4800+ & DFI Motherboard, I want to upgrade to the Intel Core 2 QX965 in January, what motherboard should I use? also should I upgrade my current PSU (currently 650W).

The machine will be used for gaming.

You should be looking at a P35 based board, Abit and Gigabyte do a good range.

What PSU do you have? Brand wise.

Thermaltake it's a year and a half old, I have been looking at the P35s and the P38s, I haven't seen any that support SLI &* DDR3, should I wait for the rite board to come available...

The PSU should be fine.

There are some P35/X38 boards that support DDR3 but it is far from mature at the moment. I would advise sticking to DDR2 for the moment as it is dirt cheap.

Not sure on SLI support think some X38 boards support it, but IMO it is not really worth it unless your gaming at very high resolutions or playing Crysis.

Yeah, I plan on playing Crysis, I am not gona touch the game on the current system I have now, I want to enjoy the full experience, It will be @ 1920 x 1200.

There might be new hardware out by Jan so might be worth asking for advice again then.
