Hi all, this is my first post here but I've been reading the forums for a while now.
I was hoping to get some advice on upgrading my pc, I would like to play games such as skyrim on medium-high settings and I currently have;

core2duo E6700 2.6gz processor
Abit AW9D max motherboard
4GB Corsair DDR2 800MZ ram
750W power supply

What would be the cheapest options to achieve this, could I get away with a graphics card and overclock the chip or would I need a new chip aswell.

Thanks for your time.

Id say the cheapest option would be:

A second hand Q9550 (or something simular) paired with a GTX 460 1GB.

The GPU is £110 and i wouldn't expect the chip to cost more than £60-£70.

That'll get you by for a while.

you say 750w for the psu but what make/model?

what graphics card are you currently using? there are new cards due very soon so if you can hold on just a few weeks longer.

as mentioned upgrade to a quad core 775 cpu, q6600 is popular or if you can find the q9650 cheap. over clock to 3.6ghz or so. should last you another several months.

Thanks guys, this is the psu I have, http://www.********.co.uk/products/components/powersupplies/nov-psb750.html. I have an old graphics card at the moment, Nvidia 7300se I think so I can't play any games at the moment.
This will be my first PC build and I've scrounged most of what I already have and I'm hoping it'll last till I can afford to get an I7 chip system.
I've been looking at the GTX 560 graphics card, is it worth the extra cash or should I save it for a new build in the future.

you cn't link to compatitors, the psu you have is an own brand for a compatitor. I've managed to figure out which website the stared url links to.

looking at the product page the it says

AC Input 100-240V ~ 10A 50/60Hz
DC Output +3.3V +5V +12V1 +12V2 +12V3 +12V4 -12V +5Vsb
Max Load 28A 30A 18A 18A 18A 18A 0.8A 3A
Max Combined Wattage 180W 650W 9.6W 15W
Total Power 750W

for the experts to check
