Hey,

About 5 years a go I picked up an Inspiron 531 and I have to say, its worked pretty well for me over the years even though its regarded as a bad system, right now my computer has:

400w PSU
AM Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor 2.6 (5000+)
4GB Ram DDR2 667-MHz
Nvidia 8300 GS

Information about the motherboard can be found here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/inspd531/en/OM/appendix.htm#wp1149549

I've been gaming on this since I purchased it, and its been a fairly painful experience as the 8300 is pretty bad. I've been looking into getting a 5570 to replace it but I have read about other people with the system who have had problems with the 5xxx series.

So, what is the best possible graphics card I can have in this system?

Also, I was looking into buying a gaming system towards the later part of this year, I'd have around £600. Originally I was looking at the "Titan 8000a Krypt" or the Titan 8200a Krypt PRO when it was on offer with the 6850.

How much better of a gaming rig do you guys think would I be able to buy if I put it together myself? How do the Titans fair again a system I could build for that price?

Any advice would be appreciated, as I'm not experienced with building computers.

Thanks!

not sure on what particular issues there might be with the 5xxx series, with that current psu maybe look at a 6770, but personally i'd wait til you got the new system/new psu etc.

i wouldn't go for a bulldozer system, should be able to build something with the intel 2500K in for your £600 budget.

being as you say end of year, i would suggest reposting closer to the time you have funds for more advice.

theres nothing really to building a pc, just take your time to look online (youtube etc) for guides and have plenty of space/light to work in and you should be fine.
