Hi guys, I've got an older system I'm looking to upgrade and wasn't sure how much I can salvage from the current system.
I'm looking to buy a i7 5820K which I'm sure would appreciate some decent cooling.
My current CPU and cooler is a Intel E8400 3.0Ghz dual core coupled with a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 and I was hoping to salvage this cooler. If not, should I then look for something like the Noctua NH-D14?

All help is greatly appreciated.

It will be fine for stock speeds, but not if you plan to OC. Also, do you know if it actually fits Socket 2011 as that is what you'll need for a 5820K.

I've just upgraded from a 212 Evo to an NH-D14 on my i5 build. I'm very happy with it and would definitely recommend it. It was very easy to install and is solid as a rock. Just be aware that there is a separate version of the NH-D14 for Socket 2011!
