Advice on using Protein Shake :)

Steroids or not, you can't add more than 1lb of lean mass a week IMO

It's easy to do a cycle, eat a crapload and put on 3lb a week, most of this will be water and fat though. Lean muscle tissue doesn't come cheap.

Even Ronnie would only add a few 10s of lbs of quality mass a year at his peak, and he would have been on gear all year.
So you agree with me? :)

Im buying 5kg of Oats from MP
However i dont want 5 tubs, id rather get 5 bags (cheaper) and then put one bag into a tub at a time

When browsing the Empty tub part on Mp, they are advertised as volume (litres) rather than weight ???

What size of tub would i need to fit 1kg of oats into?

1 litre of liquid usually equals 1kg in weight. Oats don't seem very dense to me though so I doubt you'd fit 1kg into a 1 litre tub. I'd go for the 2.5l tub, you'll probably fit 2kg of oats into it.

Cheers Chong, I was trying to buy it from the site without using the price matcher

Bulkpowder = What a saving. I used your code since it was all down to you

:p

These oats... they go in raw right? Could I try blending them so they're like a coarse powder before putting them into a shake? There's nothing to be lost by doing this, right?

Also: what's wrong with MP's own whey flavourings?

Yeah i've been looking at MP's own whey flavourings and there own Formulas in thig wrong with any of these?

Thanks.

Then you can knock 25% off my figures.

Your PWO sounds fine, just make sure you get a good meal in you about 60-90 mins later. Don't be scared of milk, no need to avoid it PWO but I'd stick to semi-skimmed or skimmed at this time.

hi :)

ive ordered all that stuff.. Basically im 60kg (5 foot 11) :o lol.. so should it be 40% off all of these things including the milk, water, cocoa powder or is it just 40% off the whey and oats? And would this be a good weight gainer which will be taken in the morning and then my post workout shake will be taken straight after my workout:

80g Organic Jumbo Oats
40g Whey Protein Concentrate
250ml Full fat milk
250ml water
5g Cocoa Powder (org)

Also ill be adding 5g of flaxseed powder each shake.

cheers

For the post workout shake

Don't add flaxseed powder, it's crap. If you want flaxseed then you should buy whole flax and grind them up yourself... because they go rancid very quickly, within hours sometimes so buying flaxseed powder that's already ground up is a waste of time and money.

If you weigh 60kg then I'd knock 25% off those figures. Though there's nothing wrong with having all that, I'd probably knock the protein down to 30g at least.

Yep slap them in raw and no theres nothing wrong with blending them up its the same as buying fine oats straight from mp, I blend my own just to save some cash

Can you take Whey Protein Isolate + liquid on its own?

Yep thats no problem just stick it in some milk or water depending on when your taking it

Yes but I'm not so sure about proteins being absorbed optimally when just taken alone. Isolate is pretty much just pure protein, maybe add some fish oils or something?

Why you using Isolate? Are you lactose intolerant??

No, just a question. I don't full understand how to use proteins properly, so im find out all the information i can.

nooo!.. i swear you wrote get some flaxseed powder from tescos for £5. I just spent £11 on 500g of flaxseed powder lol.. seeing as ive bought it now, its gonna be that little bit better adding it into each shake surely?

Ok cheers anyways, ill take off 25%. So ill have a full shake in the morning and that smaller shake with no oats right after the workout ? cheers

"Also you could goto Tesco and get yourself 500g of organic flaxseed powder for £5 (it's cheaper and better than myprotein ) and add all that to your mix for some good fats and fibre."

Yeah, it's a never ending learning process this you know ;) that post was six months ago now mate...

No big deal, loads of people still swear by flaxseed and it's still a great source of fibre. Saying it's crap is my personal opinion on it as a source of healthy fats like Omega-3... for this it IS crap.

Try to limit the chances of it going rancid by storing it in the fridge as soon as you open it, wether they're good or bad will depend on how quickly they packaged the flax powder.

Would omega-3 supplements be all right taken once a day?

I currently take 1x 1000mg cod liver oil with 180 DPA / 150 EPA (i think thats right) in each tablet.

Cod liver oil is not a good source of EPA/DHA because of all the Vitamin A & D it contains. Don't take more than 1 of those a day!

Fish Oils are the best source of EPA/DHA like these http://www.myprotein.co.uk/capsules-tablets-softgels/omega-3-and-fish-oils/omega-3/
These ones are ok but not great.

http://www.myprotein.co.uk/capsules-tablets-softgels/omega-3-and-fish-oils/neptune-krill-oil/ this stuff is very good but expensive.

I've got 250 tablets of this.

Didn't realise there was a difference between the 2.
