Advice on Video Editing rig - £700

Hi everyone,

Im in serious need of a new PC for video editing (Premiere Pro) and also the occasional gaming session.
My current specs are in my signature. My budget is about £650 - £700, but I am trying to keep the price as low as possible - the weak Euro isnt doing me many favours though.
I will be keeping my hard drives from my current rig so no need for those, and this price does not include a graphics card.

After a bit of snooping around here, I have put this spec together. Any thoughts?
I am trying to decide between the i5 and i7 and if I should go for 16GB of ram. Doubling up the ram seem sensible, unsure if the extra threads on i7 will be worth it.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi guys,

after this got moved into General Hardware it got pushed a few pages back. ;)

But I will be ordering in a day or two and would love someone just to check over everything.
Also is the Ram low profile enough for that CPU cooler?

Cheers :)

Check some bench tests to see if the i5 is faster than some other options when it comes to video rendering.

Cheers for the advice :)
But ive already hit order and hopefully it will be here today

I ended up getting this setup while the case and ram were on offer for £678 inc. p&p
So if I throw in a cheap 2nd hand gtx 470 then I should be all sorted :)

Should be a bit of a step up from my current setup :D

On a side note. I have an Audigy 2 soundcard that I have taken out of my current setup because it is fighting with the mobo. But how would it compare to the onboard sound on the Z77?
