Right I was going to just keep my current Philips 190x6 and buying a massive LCD for the front room but me and the lass are splitting so I'm moving back in army single's block. I think 24" widescreen would be the right size, but I need to use it to watch TV on and possibly HD from a HD DVD player or Sky and also play games. Was looking at the BenQ one but it's a touch expensive.

Thoughts please?

Sounds like you'd be better off with an lcd tv rather than monitor if main use is going to be tv.There's a few quality 32" lcd tv's around for £299 these days any decent 24".without a tn film panel is quite expensive at around £440 + might want to look at the samsung http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-054-SA just be sure about viewing angles on tn film screens and whether this will affect your usage and enjoyment.

Well I say TV, but most TV watched would prob be downloaded. Only TV I really watch is sport. Rest would be films, and again DVDs. I thought though that with LCD TV's hooked up to a PC I wouldn't be able to get in BIOS etc as it won't display till the OS starts? I'd be selling my current monitor to help fund my purchase.

I would steer clear of tn film screens and just stretch to something like the dell 2407wfp.

You don't need hdmi to watch hi def on a monitor dvi is fine it just doesn't carry audio to the monitor.Xbox 360 works fine on dvi or vga as well as sky hd.

If you're going to plug in a HD-DVD/Blu-Ray player I would get one with HDMI with HDCP, what with HD video copy protection system.

So your saying it wont play on a dvi/hdmi cable? i'll have to check that out as i was under the impression that blueray plays fine via an hdmi to dvi cable.
