Now that i have my lovely new dell 2209WA, I need some advice on what to do with my old iiyama prolite 1900? The other half wants me to sell it as it cost me very little as i bought it from my place of work. I have a gtx 295 so there should be no problem with running a dual monitor system :D

The question really is there any point? Can you guys give me a good reason to justify to my self and the other half, how i can use it effectively? Just looking for some ideas for keeping it otherwise it'll be going on fleabay.

Cheers

Hi Olllie,

I vote that you should keep it. Having a second monitor is awesome - really helps with multitasking. I find when doing a uni project/essay - having a second screen to open with an internet browser (for research material ofcourse) and Word/Excel on the main screen makes everything so nice to use and help me get my work done faster/better.

Also, when not working - having a second screen to play a TV show/movie is brilliant while you are playing a game/browsing net on the main one.

All-in-all dual monitors are full of win :D.

I'd keep it or at least try working with two. I like to have reference material on one while I work on the other, IRC and IM on the second so I can just glance at it without interrupting my flow too much, TV or Video playing on the second while I browse.

I'm actually thinking of getting another.

Indeed, dual monitors ***!!

I couldn't imagine living without mine now, soo handy.
Takes a bit of getting used to, granted, but once you have cracked it if you do any form of work at all then they will help you get it done soo much faster.
Also just think of the amount of.... :o

Ok will try it out! Unfortunately i am too old to be doing uni work now lol! How do i watch a dvd and play a game? ie I love playing FM2010 and would like to watch a film while doing so. How do i set up the monitors in the control panel to do so?

Aye, just set it up in the Nvidia control panel - set it up as "Dualview" mode I believe and you will extend your desktop onto the new monitor, on which you can change the resolution independently.

As for playing games with a video running on the second monitor, some games will work fine without any messing. If one doesn't, turn on "Borderless Window" mode and both the game and movie will appear to appear to be fullscreened on their respective monitors.

cmndr andi your are turning into my personal guru as far as monitor advice is concerned!

Cheers again
