Advice on what to get for PhysX

I wouldn't waste your money. I have a GTS 250 as a dedicated physx card only because I had it spare and it has made minimal difference. Mafia II and Metro2033 see maybe a 2-3fps boost at best. The biggest difference for me was in Batman, but it wasn't that my GTX 480 was struggling...

Mafia 2 might not get a huge fps boost from a dedicated card but it is much much smoother with a dedicated PhysX card... unfortunatly its about the only game thats worth getting a dedicated card for PhysX out atm so in general its not worth bothering about.

Yeah thats fair enough. I haven't even played through Mafia 2 again now I have a physx card, only used the benchmark.

Once thing I've never really understood is why we need powerful cards for dedicated PhysX, I would have thought that if you can run gfx+physx on a single card (albeit sub-optimally), that even something distinctly average like a 9600GT or 8800GTS-320 should be more than enough to handle PhysX on its own.

Take a weekend break somewhere in europe instead :)

This, I know it's been said before but until Nvidia allow users without Nvidia cards to use physx, developers aren't going to risk cutting out a large percentage of their customer base by using physx for anything more profound in the game than virtually unnoticeable changes to particle effects.

Weekend break in France! Try FontaineBleu, is a rather nice town and the cafes are charming :)
