hmm its that same odd story when is a good time to buy...
ill set the story basically me and a mate are both going to get are machines at the same time and identical spec, we are both running ruffly similar spec machines atm mines 2500 barton, 2gigs ram and 6800GT his is similar but ati 9800xtx and 3200barton.
so we are going to have to buy whole new machines, some times like while playing the c and c 3 demo it runs a treat other times when running sup com or arma (while zoomed in trynig to snipe) its just just ******* sluggish
i personally dont think the 6800gt is a slow card i think the cpu is holding us back so its new rig time the whole lot
this is where im stuck though 400 is just too much to spend on a card only to have another bugger 3 times better come out a week later and then ill need that one
if it was all i was buying then id consider it but ive got the rest of the rig to think about
is it worth waiting and hope for a price drop or maybe getting a cheap pci express grahics card to bung in there till the new range come out maybe like a 7900 gs or 8800 gts 320 ?
we where planing on arranging a lan end of april and wanted are comps ready for then to get some sup com going on a lan with out the slow down
so with a potential purchase date of mid april, should we just buy the best we can afford graphics wise or get a cheap g card for maybe 100 and spend the money else where on the rig then wait 5 months and see whats out
im leaning towards the 8800 320 route or a 640 if its around £200, i know its not the best but i substantial increase over are current rigs im sure...
normally we play at 1280 x 1024, games like arma, bf2, c&c, and sup com
