Not a very well balanced system your gpu is an oddball with that cpu.

When I upgraded to a 3800X in October from a 6700K at 4.7GHz, I felt my 1080 was holding back the 3800X.
So upgraded to a 2080 Super, which I got on a black Friday deal.
Nothing out there pushes the GTX 1080 at 1080p res, so until I go to 1440p or higher then the GPU is perfectly fine. It's also perfect for my VR headset (Oculus Rift S) and doesn't miss a beat.
The jump to the 3900x was only because of the OCUK bundle offer, and because I had the money at the time. Going to a better GPU isn't on the cards until I upgrade the monitor, so hopefully by then AMD will have some competition to RTX.
I went from a I7 6700k o/c to 4.5Ghz, great CPU but it's 5 years old and I had the upgrade itch. And, looking at ebay, I could probably get close to half my money back if I sell the whole lot, CPU, Motherboard, RAM, Cooler.

Yep thats spot on. The 1080 will hold back the cpu.
@ST_Craig you got a 3900x for 1080p gaming and your running your mouth about how the 3600 is dead.... I think you need to have a little talk with yourself.
Wow, you attack me for what ? Because you are so insecure over a CPU ? Get a life. And I've reported your post, I haven't attacked anyone here, so I expect the same.
