Hi everyone

I am currently at a crossroads with my set up and really want some advice on what would be the best thing to do

See my sig for my current setup

My decision is what should I do to upgrade my GPU. My three vaible options are

1. Buy another MSI GTX580 and go SLi (currently £275 + free copy of borderlands 2)

2. Go down the new GPU route and get the GTX670 or The GTX 680

I used to have SLi years ago and it reaped great results but I have read many articles saying SLi isnt as beneficial as it used to be and that it all depends on drivers and updates etc and so varies from game to game a lot.

I am looking to future proof my PC for a fair few years as I will be at a point where my cash needs to go elsewhere in life and so Im making my last adjustment now while I can lol

All help and advice welcome

Unless it is a 3GB 580 I wouldn't bother. 1.5GB of VRAM while being enough generaly, might not be enough to fully utilise the full power of two 580's in say BF3 as you will probably hit a VRAM limit. If you don't, you'll be close.

A single card set up is always a better option in my eyes if it's a toss up between the two and I would say get a GTX 670. 680 isn't really worth the extra £100.

Another 580 would be a waste of money at £275. You can get a 670 for only a little more and it has a lot more performance

my old single 580 lightning fully clocked could do 7,500 in 3dmark11
my 670 fully clocked will do 10,500, wont beat SLI 580's but its the overall experience you have to take into account eg. drivers, heat, electric, vram

+1 for a 670

Ive read and seen that there is a 670 that is oc above a 680 but for around £50 less than a 680. And if thats the difference between a 580 and a 670 singles then id be silly to not go for the 670 oc version I guess. I just want to make sure I am as future proofed as reasonably possible

Go for the Gigabyte Windforce if you want to buy a custom one. Best one on the market in my eyes.
