Ok people as much as I hate mentioning it but Xmas is approaching and I'm already getting demands made upon my wallet, so looking for some advice from you xbox peeps. My eldest (12yo) is after a Xbox and the new Sonic game which I think I'm correct in saying requires Kinetic ? Also which version of xbox is best to go for, I've honestly no idea the difference apart from H/D size. Oh and xbox live is it required solely for online play and what sort of costs ? Sorry for so many questions but trying to cover everything :)
Cheers

Sorry for the emote, didn't mean it to come out like that, its a different one on another forum i frequent.

Yeah Free Riders isn't new, and yes it needs Kinect :)

Not a problem mate, now as for which console ? Is it just a case of which deal is best with the biggest storage space, or is there anything else I should be checking. Cheers

For most titles the 4gb console is fine , but you can't play some titles online, won't be able to buy DLC or download demo's etc.

The 250GB's cheap enough (£40 more then the 4gb) in most places to make the 4gb redundant.

However if you can find a really, really cheap 4gb.. you can buy a second hand old 360 HDD and put that in (youtube for video's) as a cheap 120gb storage solution, which is what i did.

MS dont endorse it, but likewise they won't ban anyone for it (have no way of telling for starters)

To save the messing about and for the relatively low cost I'd just go for the 250Gb Xbox 360. Everything you need, straight out of the box with no fuss.

As Alpherah suggests, keep an eye out on hotukdeals etc for a decent deals on the Xbox and Kinect if you're after both.

As for Xbox Live. It just allows you to play online with others. Without it you won't have access to online multiplayer. It does also give you a discount sometimes on content from the Marketplace. You can get Live for about £30 a year. There are lots of sites that will email you the code to get the years access. Expect to pay about £10 more if you get Live from the highstreet.
