Just went into a well known game shop to buy a Premium 360.
It comes with a Component HD AV Cable (with scart block), but I've got a 28" widescreen CRT and read here that for best picture quality use the RGB scart cable.

So I went to buy that also and guy said you don't need that, you get a cable in the bundle.
I explained what i had read about RGB and he said no, the supplied HD cable is what i need and is the best pic.

Is he right or do I still need to get the RGB cable?

If you telly doesn't have component inputs, then the best quality you can get will be with the RGB cable which you will have to buy seperately.

Hes talking garbage, the HD cable you get will only allow composite (yellow video, red/white audio connectors into the scart block) on your TV which is crap.

Go and buy a proper RGB scart lead.

My brother plays his 360 with the included SCART block and picture looks fine. Not as good as mine on HD TV of course but still :p

This is what you get in the premium. I use component (yellow/white/red) and it looks fine.

Yeah i gotta agree, the general consensus is that a dedicated scart lead gives you the best picture. All i know is the composite is rather poo :p
But with other consoles an actual scart lead always gave the best, rather than a composite with an adaptor

The other thing to make sure is that your TV actually has an RGB scart. My 28" widescreen has 2 scart sockets, only one of which is RGB.

you mean you use composite. component isnt red white and yellow :p :D

I wasnt sure, I took a gamble. I lost.

Why did they call them something so similar. I would have called it MegavisualBoom Mode and Underswishappeal Mode.
