Hi,

Apologies for my first post being a cry for help ;)

I'm looking to buy a monitor that will be primarily used for graphic and web design.

I'm not particularly looking for a large monitor but I am upgrading from dual 19" monitors so would need to be at least 22"

It would need to have a hdmi port as it will be used for PS3 gaming but as I have said the main use will web/graphic design (PhotoShop, Visual Studio).

I don't have a budget but I would be looking to spend around £200 if possible.

I have looked at several models but I'm unsure as to whether it would be best to go for a TN or IPS panel?

Thanks

You can get a HDMI switch and a few HDMI to DVI adapters, it's quite cheap.

For your purposes, an IPS screen would be better but with a £200 budget, you won't be able to get the U2311H unfortunately.

You should be able to get the Viewsonic VP2365wb for about £200, but it doesn't have HDMI either and also doesn't have overdrive so you may see a fair bit of ghosting compared to the U2311H.

Just seen that the U2311H can be had for under £190, does use one with a PS3? I know I will have to get a converter, anyone have experience of this?

Also if I buy a Dell Sound Bar to go along with the monitor does that mean it would output sound from the PS3?

Many Thanks

ps3 will work on any monitor with a dvi input or hdmi input as long as it's hdpc compliant and has 1:1 pixel mapping preferably
i use a hi fi amp for my ps3 so don't know about dell soundbars

You can see the PS3 in action hooked up to the U2311H using a HMDI to DVI adapter cable in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4Q78-G1xHA#t=3m56

As for sound, I presume if you get the Dell Soundbar, HDMI audio should work. Just remember that the sound quality is likely to be pretty bad, i.e. laptop quality. You're better off doing what C64 does and hooking it up to some external speakers.

I finally went for a U2311H and overall I really like it. However, it seems that the uniformity is slightly off with the left hand-side of the screen is slightly darker, looking at http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/content/dell_u2311h.htm#uniformity it seems that this is normal?

I have the revision 00 of the monitor, does anyone know if the uniformity was better in later revisions of the monitor? Anyone have experience of exchanging the monitor for a later revision? Are Dell happy to do that?

Thanks
