Advice please. High end, good upgradability.

At 1080p the i5 should have a problem.. Though personally i'd go for the i7 if it fits in your budget?

Have you got that monitor already or is it part of the £1000?

You can overclock an i5-4670k as well. If you aren't doing video encoding or making much use of hyperthreading, then the difference in price will allow you to spend more on a better video card for example.

Who knows what will happen in 3 years time for sure. In theory yes, you'll be able to. But mobos will change, DDR4 memory will come in, etc, so there's only so much you can do to future-proof. Best you can do is go for the latest socket and processor Gen at the moment (1150 and 4th Gen) if you're going Intel, which it seems you are. You'll still be able to put new cards in three years time, it just depends on other factors how good it will perform v the same card on a new mobo with new processor three years down the line. Don't worry about it too much. Just get the latest and the best your budget will allow.
