Hi guys i'm looking into upgrading an old AMD A10 build, the case is the only thing i will be keeping out of the brains. Games i play are Planet Coaster, Cyberpunk Call Of Duty among others that i've been playing from my laptop so pc has not been used to play games but i want to change this.

The case is a Fractal Design Node 804 micro ATX, the reasons why i want the keep the case 1 it fits nice where its positioned and 2 i use this pc as a media center with kodi. I had modified the case with a flirc ir receiver to control with my Logitech Harmony Elite remote.

The parts i'm looking to get are the following.

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Eight Core 5.20GHz (Socket AM5) Processor - Retail
Corsair Vengeance EXPO 64GB (2X32GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C30 6000MHz Dual Channel
Asus TUF Gaming A620M-PLUS WIFI (Socket AM5) DDR5 Micro ATX Motherboard
Gigabyte Radeon RX 7700 XT Gaming 12GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Cooler Master MWE Gold 850w V2 ATX3.1 80 Plus Gold Power Supply

I haven't built a pc for years and i'm not sure what cpu cooling would be best to go with these parts, any help from you guys would be helpful.

The 7700 XT is often pretty long, I assume you checked that?

From the specs of the case, it wouldn't fit if the front fan is installed, but it would without.

The 9800X3D doesn't need much because the power consumption is pretty low. The cheapest option is something like the freezer 36, or a peerless assassin. I believe your case takes 240mm AIOs, which would also be fine.

Cheers Tetras, would the Arctic Liquid Freezer III High Performance CPU Water Cooler - 240mm be ok?

The liquid freezer has a thick rad it may not fit.
Would need to get more standard AIOs.
Also your ram can't be taller than 48mm. Will need to use low profile ram - check specs.

I've looked on part picker and it said, The Fractal Design Node 804 MicroATX Mid Tower Case supports video cards up to 320mm long, but video cards over 290mm may block drive bays. Since the Gigabyte GAMING OC Radeon RX 7700 XT 12 GB Video Card is 302mm long, some drive bays may not be usable. The Fractal Design Node 804 MicroATX Mid Tower Case hard drive bays are positioned where some of the bays may be physically blocked when using longer video cards. I'm not really worried about the hard drive bays as i'll be using M.2 SSD

How accurate is uk.************.com as that shows no problem with Arctic Liquid Freezer III.

It is accurate. But the devil is in the detail as always.

Front (right chamber) - 240 mm radiator configurations up to 60 mm thick (with fans) and 278 mm tall are allowed.

Front (left chamber) - 240 mm radiator configurations up to 60 mm thick (with fans) and 278 mm tall are allowed. Using a radiator in this position prevents the use of a fan in the top position just next to it.

Top (right chamber) - 240/280 mm radiators up to 130mm thick (with fans) may be fitted if the HDD drive bays are taken out or placed elsewhere. No limitation to thickness.

Top (left chamber) - 240 mm radiator configurations up to 130 mm thick (with fans) will fit. Radiators in this position limits the height of memory modules to 48 mm tall.

All depends on where the AIO is going.

If you're going to use the HDD bays then the right chamber is out.
Leaves the left chamber. Probably can't fit it up front as your GPU is going to be long.
Leave the left chamber top position, necessitating low profile ram.

Cheers tamzzy, I'll put it in one of the positions in the right chamber, i'll be leaving the hard drive bays out as no dives will be installed and it will help air flow me thinks.

ah fair enough, i assumed when you said a media centre pc you meant you had a ton of hard drives inside :P
