getting the 5850 and a cpu cooler to unlock the cores i have looked into this and made a thread but no one replied. so does anyone know i good guide to unlock the extra core as i have no clue and could you recommend a decent amd cpu cooler

slight technicality, AM2 and AM3 are identical

Aye, the mounting for the two is the same. So if the cooler says "AM2 compatible" then AM3 compatibility is implied.

I've taken your info in but am not going to go with the build.. I will keep my money and save as i think this is a more sensible thing as my birthday is coming up (august 22nd)
