Hi

Im seriously thinking of taking the plunge into water cooling as part of my big upgrade (AMDx2 cpu HIS X1900xtx, Crossfire mobo) . I havnt done any overclocking since the early celeron days as instability and my wifes irritation at system crashes stopped me but I now want to try oclocking again.I want to continue with my Lian Li 6089a case.

I'm torn between going for a ready built bolt on unit such as the Corsair cool system or other similar or going for what seem to me to be the highly complex modular kits available on Oclockers.

Some advice,views,encouragement much appreciated.

the best thing u can get which is a complete kit and will not be too much hassel would be the swiftech apex kit. It has everything you need and all is near the top end of kit, so will give much better performance than the all in one jobs(which give similar results to decent air cooling).

After much deliberation I’ve just joined the Water Cooling club too. Overclockers shipped out the gear on Friday night. so i shall start dabbling :D

I ended up going for a Swiftech kit they've got in the clearance section which although it's a bit older it gets good review and comes highly recommended.

What i've gathered so far is...

Don't bother with anything less than 120mm radiator
Don't bother with a north bridge block or one of those mad GFX card blocks that cool the gfx RAM too. (They impend the flow too much!)
It's easier to setup and maintain a system with a reservoir than a T line and fill pot
Keep the radiator inlet & outlet pipe at the top (when standing up)- easier to bleed
Keep the inlet & outlet on the CPU block at the top - easier to bleed again
Keep the pipes short
Don't use 90 degree elbows

Reservoir > Pump > Block > Radiator

Basically Keep it simple

Good advice CaDLoN; would also add to take things slow and double check everything. May wish to run wc setup outside case on card or newspaper for 24hrs to ensure no leaks. Although this is'nt completely nesccesary it may be a good idea for first timer.
