Hello folks

I'd appreciate some advice please, because its been a couple of years since I did any upgrading tasks.

Current system:

Current case is M-ATX Antec Minuet with a 220W PSU
Current CPU is 2005 vintage Celeron 2.8G
Current Mobo is Asus P4S800-MX
Current use is basic office stuff, occasional video
NO gaming or 'high demands', some photo editing.

My plan:

Keep the case and PSU
Change CPU to Intel Conroe E6750 2.66G
Change Mobo to Asus P5E-VM with o/b graphics
Planned use: same basic stuff, but now driving a 1900x1200 widescreen, hence need a boost, but nothing too fancy (no games, remember).

My questions:

(1) Will the 220w PSU be sufficient for above? Currently runs fairly cool.
(2) What's your general opinion?

Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

No, your PSU will not be enough really at all. I would recommend a new far more beefy one.

Personally I would say something like :

That kind of combo (or variation of) will be best.

Or, if you wanted to save some money, get the E2160, the same board and ram. No in built GPU I hear you cry! just get anything light wait, something like:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-152-AS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=168

or

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-073-OK&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1010

Overclock the CPU though. Even the 2160 could probably get 3GHZ on stock cooler.

So basically:

PSU (I personally like corsair or OCZ)
2GB ram (I like Geil or OCZ or corsair)
Motherboard (asus or gigabyte are great boards)
E2160 on budget, if you want to spend more then consider the E6600 Quad.
Whatever GPU you want.

This should do. That mobo has probably the best integrated graphics at the moment.
