Hey guys!,

I am looking for some help choosing the best ram upgrade for my system.

GA-EX58-EXTREME (gigabyte)
3x2GB Gskill Trident 2000mhz CL9 Triple channel "perfect storm" matched
i7 970 (1366)
Dual MSI 6970
OCZ vertex II x2 Raid 0 for operating system (windows 7)
Various WDC storage drives
1200W Be quiet dark power pro

I am very happy with my system but recently I have been experimenting with various servers and clients and I am using 5GB out of my 6GB of ram, so I was looking to make the jump to 12GB.

I am struggling to find another set of trident to put in the other three slots so I decided to just stick to one controller and buy a 3x4GB kit.

The best kit I can come up with is corsair CMX12GX3M3A2000C9
which claims to run 2000mhz 9-10-9-27

I cant find anywhere that states this kit from corsair is "matched" can someone tell me if corsair do match these triple channel kits.

can I do better? What would you reccomend I didnt want to get a 1600mhz kit when I can have 2000mhz kit that is C9 but perhaps thats misguided.

One small snag, I am running a Phanteks CPU heatsink that will only allow for low profile ram so I cannot fit any of this new ram with big fins on top of the heatspreaders.

Sorry for the long post, thanks for your help.

David.

Nice I didn't know my board supported dual, I can't shake the idea that I should get triple chan even tho the difference would probably be negligible.

12 should be more than I will ever use unless I start playing with ram discs lol :)

Is there a better low profile tri Chan kit than the corsair xms3?

The corsair kit is 115 quid so if there's a cheaper gskill kit that runs 2000mhz C9
I would go for that instead as I'm not looking for overclockability (new word?)

I expect the xms3 is as good as i can get, can anyone tell me if that particular kit is matched?
I know its not the end of the world if its not matched but I would rather have 3 matched sticks.
