Hi All,

Two years ago I built my own system using components from Overclockers. The system has been a gem and I'm very pleased. But on Sunday my machine would not boot up -- I didn't even get to the "post" beep even though the fans were running etc...

After lengthy investigation, I discovered one of the two 512MB OCZ PC 3500 memory modules ("Enhanced Latency 2-3-3-7) had failed. I called OC and they said send the memory stick back and it would go back to the manufacturers for a replacement modules, although it could take several weeks to come back. Well, as my system is really limping along right now on 512MB I decided to buy a new set of 1GB memory. I have gone for this:

£66.95 x 1 - Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200C2PT Platinum CAS2 (2-3-3-6) (MY-082-CS)
Sub-Total: 66.95
Shipping: 5.25
VAT: 12.64
Total: 84.84. It seems a pretty good deal for me.

Now, my question is this -- will my system perform slower with this memory over the previous dual 512MB OCZ memory (PC 3500, 2-3-3-7)? I am running a P4 Northwood 3.2GHz CPU on an Asus P4C800 Mobo and the system is not overclocked. Thanks for any advice and thoughts.

Nope, as you're not overclocking your PC3700 would have been running at PC3200, as this new RAM will also. The timings are so close to be almost identical so it should be exactly the same :)
