Advice please

Need to buy a PC or Laptop for my mum, at around the £400. So far, I've seen a desktop AMD64 3200 with 17" Sony TFT or a Pentium M 735 1.7 for same price.

Opinions if I may please.

Well ive seen new laptops from as little as £350.What will the machine be used for?

Lets see if i can spec you a basic machine. Do you need a monitor, keyb+mouse?

Just something for her to use. Doesn't know how to use it. Mainly for receiving pics of my nephew to start with.

Want her to buy something worthwhile and I was thinking with the desktop I could pass my bits down, but then realised it was the 940pin chip

Just seen a AMD 64 Turion 2ghz MK36 as well for the same price. Don't know how those processors lineup
