Hello im looking to get a laptop mostly for general usage ie browsing, music etc any suggestions would be apreciated i would prefer brand new father than a referb type im not too clued up on these things umm budget around £250-450 is that a good enough price range for what i'm after?

Not really i just need to get myself some sort of computer i have seen a MSI Wind U135 Windows XP kinda cheap im wondering if this could give me a quick fix for now then within the next few months i will buy or build a pc

Could look at the Asus UL30. I currently have my eye on it to replace my Dell 1555 which I sold.

13.3" screen, CULV processor, 8hr battery life. Can be had for around £350 now.

Thanks Nymis looking at the ASUS UL30A there doesnt seem to be much difference between that and the MSI X340 or an i wrong? Eithe way i may opt for the MSI as its a slightly cheaper

Not sure if there are different configs of the X340, but if you are looking at the one OcUK sell, then it has a slower processor, less ram and a much smaller battery (Core 2 Solo SU4100 against the UL30's Core 2 Duo SU7300, 2Gb ram vs UL30's 3Gb and a 4cell battery vs UL30's 8cell)

Ahh and this is the reason i needed advice thanks again partner um i recon the UL30 is the one then and would this lappy be able to cope with football manager and the old company of heroes games? no big deal if it cant im just wondering

Ok so i have seen a i3 Toshiba C660 for the same price as the Asus i dont think there are any major differences between the two or could you tell me anything before i take the plunge and blow a few bob on it? thanks

the C660 is a standard 15.6" laptop.

the ul30 is a 13.3" thin and ultraportable laptop, hence why its priced similarly to i3 machines. you pay for the size, weight and battery life with the ul30, not for the power.
