Hi all,

Looking to buy a Focus from a dealership but I'm always worried about buying second hand cars (I've bought two that have previously been involved in accidents when I was assured it had been checked before I bought it). Even though the car is only a year old I want to make sure it's not been bumped before. Does anyone know any decent websites/text services that can provide me with information ie if it has been written off etc? I don't trust the garages always do these checks so I wanted to make sure I don't buy a shed! Many thanks.

There is no check to see if It's had a bump. Only cars written off by the insurer will be recorded.

The only way to tell if its had a bump that didn't write it off is to have a good look at it.

Unless it was a light smack within a few months / weeks of rolling off the production line and went back to Ford then it should be easy to find out if it's had an accident just by looking, having bumpers replaced and painted doesn't mean it's a duff car in any way.

Thanks guys, it's a ford direct car so apparently the RAC do an inspection before they sell the car.
