i am looking to replace my 5 year old 22" 1680x1050 samsung 2232bw, it has served me well but does make an annoying buzz when the screen is black, something to do with the capacitors i believe. 23" to 24"@1920x1080 is the size i'm interested in, i can't afford 120hz and i have a gtx480(which isn't going to be upgraded for a while +-1 year). i want to make the move to a HD screen but am wondering what sort of performance hit i will take moving from 1680x1050 to 1920x1080 keeping in mind i can currently run bf3 at full ultra setting at an average of 47.5 fps on caspian border. i would prefer to spend less than £150 but will go slightly over that if it is worth it, any input in appreciated and thanks in advance :)

ok, let me rephrase then :) how would my gtx 480 cope with a 24" 1920x1080 120hz screen, i would be willing to wait a few months more to save and get a 120hz screen if my gfx card can cope with it sufficiently ie: 30-40 fps. i don't mind waiting and spending a bit more if the end result is good.

A very good 60Hz screen for gaming is the Iiyama E2473HDS slightly over budget but if you're patient wait for a weekly sale and it's probably within your budget. If you manage to reach 100 posts before then shipping is free as well (if you're actually in the UK and ordering from OC UK). Spamming is of course bad so make useful contributions in whatever part of the forum you can contribute with your own expertise.
Your videocard is going to have to work 17% harder so subtract that from your current framerate and you'll have a very rough avarage. If you have have a Full HD tv, plug the PC into it and find you'll know soon enough.

thanks for the reply, the bit about subtracting 17% answers my original post nicely, doubtful i'll post enough to get the free postage, at least not for a while anyways, that is a nice screen and not too far over budget.
