Before I do anything else and screw up my Motherboard and anything else, can you tell me if this occurence is normal, and if not, how to get back to factory defaults:

I have noticed that my Motherboard (ASUS P8Z77-V LX) i5-3570k is very argumentative when I try to set back to optimized defaults, by such I mean that if I press F5 for defaults and then F10 to close and save, my system shuts down, and restarts about 4 or 5 times, and then maybe on the 5th time it will post, and restart to Windows, but if I check the BIOS, its not back to defaults, it's set at a speed slightly higher than the default of 3.40 and RAM 1333. when hitting F5 everything is bassically set at Auto, but after the 4 o 5 restarts some are set at manual. I'm not too savy on the terminology, so I hope you can understand what i mean

I would flash the BIOS with the latest version, this should remove any glitches plus restore default settings.

I have the Pro version of the board and the only time it has behaved as you describe is when I ran the OC Tuner option in the BIOS, it seemed to run through a sequence of boots then when it had settled on what it thought was the best settings it booted up with them applied. But why it would do that without you telling it to I don't know.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS with the board jumper/battery. fyi it will clear any saved oc profiles you have stored.
