advice please

hi
a friend of mine has stupidly formatted his c drive on his laptop windows 7

he has removed the hard drive and connected it to his pc and tried recuva to recover all his files but only found about half of them

what would you recommend to recover everything from his formatted c drive

files recovered are dependent on size and program used etc, you could try a different program, there's many out there, each has there own strengths and weakness etc, for me use Hiren boot cd as there's a few on there, or just try a few others and see what they find, it can be trial and error, but what are you trying to recover?

full recover, won't happen, doc's and pic's yes, movies no, games no, large files next to no, 100's to 1000's files of junk, yes

Getback, is good, but then again i also like Stellar Phoenix,Back Track, but here's a list for you...

Did he do a full or quick format?

for whatever reason he clicked on format cdrive and it wiped the whole of his cdrive on restart

Restore from his backu....

Getdataback is one of the best at recovering files.

You may be saved by Testdisk it can restore whole partitions
