Hi all can you guys tell me if i need to buy a male displayport cable for a 2560x1440p monitor to me pc thanks

Well, you indeed do need something special to get 2560x1440 resolution at 60Hz. There should be at least three options:

- Dual link DVI
- HDMI 1.4
- Displayport

So, if your monitor and GPU both have Displayport connectors, then that's a very good choice. And yes, it should be male connectors on both ends of the cable.

But actually, it seems even HDMI 1.3 already supports resolutions up to 2560x1600:

And btw, the 1080p actually just means 1920x1080 progressive scan. 1080p could mean it's progressive at 24fps or at 60fps, just as well. With computers we've gotten used to the p60. But for example, 4k at the moment is just p24 with HDMI 1.4.

PS. Though I'm just going by the specs, I haven't ever used a 2560x1440 resolution...
