Advice please

I have Talktalk which, as it happens has been very good indeed over the last year or so!!

Now, i have been given a BT router. Can i use that to extend the signal from the Talktalk router? If so, how? Remember, i am a complete noob regarding this so would need step by step instructions. Ta
