advice printing an image with a border

My bro is moving house and asked for a print. I have one in mind (mono landscape) but I have it with a white border. So should I print the image with the border or should I crop it out and put it in a frame with a border?

Print without the border and mount the photo onto some white card as desired.

If you print a photo with a white border it will come out as a glossy border and your photo will obviously be much smaller so is a waste of money and might look odd.
