Hi

I'm planning on treating myself to a new system, with an Antec 300 case and Asus Rampage Formula X48 m/b;

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-078-OK&groupid=43&catid=1270&subcat=&name="Ultima%20OC%20HD%204870%20X2"%20Intel%20Core%202%20Quad%20Q9550%202.83GHz%20@%203.30GHz+%20Quad%20Core%20DDR2%20System

I'm thinking of getting 3 extra fans for it (1 for the side intake and two for the front). Does anyone know if the m/b has sufficient load-controlled fan headers for the additional 3 fans, or should I also get a fan controller?
I'd like the system to run quietly most of the time, but be able to ramp up the cooling under load - preferable automatically, but turning a few dials on the front isn't beyond me :)

Also, does anyone know what the noise leakage of the 300 is like? Should I get some rubber mounts for the hard drive?

OK, done a bit more research and apparently the m/b can control the CPU fan and 2 chassis fans based upon CPU load. There's a third chassis fan header that can fix the RPM but doesn't appear to be CPU-load dependent.

I assume the two chassis fans that come with the case will take up the first two headers, so I'll need a controller for any additional fans. Can anyone recommend one?

Ugh - apparently the fan control isn't CPU-load dependent, but temperature dependent. Sounds like a great idea, except that there aren't any probes supplied with the board. Guess I'll be getting the Scythe fan controller ;o)

Thanks!

I got the impression from the manual that only the CPU fan was controlled by the CPU temp - and that the chassis fans are controlled by the chassis temp probes - but the m/b only has the headers (and no probe).

I'll double check!

The northbridge and PWM's will also have an internal temperature sensors which the Asus software should pick up, along with other software programmes.
