Advice - RE: Over the limit

I agree with everyone saying that he's an idiot and deserved the ban.

Yes, its either due to his bond or because he blew more than 39. Not sure if I will ever find out but wanted to post what he got because I said I would.

Ask the court for a copy of the court recordings/transcript. Should be stated in the evidence.

I blew 76 5 years ago. 12 month ban (course reduced to 9) and £470 fine. So his other issue must have come into play for the extra years ban, or maybe the accident factor.

No need to pull me up on my stupidity, it's a long story which I have expained on here before.

I know someone who was banned for similar and also tagged! They werent even driving just sat in the car. Not got a full story there I'm sure. But it's taboo, for a damn good reason, and any penalty is deserved.

I don't need to delcare it to insurance at my next renewal! Glad to be putting it and many other things behind me at last (although it's on your record for 11 years) :)

^^ Don't most insurers ask if you have EVER been banned (not just in the last 5 years like normal points)?

They can ask but as it's spent after 5 years they're not allowed to do anything about it. Some will try anyway but most behave themselves now.

Yeah,

I went from a 3000E Mk 1 Capri to an old Mini 850 after my 12 month ban in 1980. I was still paying 2x the insurance premium though.

Shame it's not a life ban and a minimum 12 months in prison. Drink drivers are scum bags.

Yep always black and white:rolleyes:

We were at a party a few years ago over easter. One of the guests had a heart attack but an ambulance couldnt get there due to snow. So the only option was one of the other guests to drive him to the hospital. Everyone had been drinking. How close to or over the limit, we'll never know.

But chances are the scumbag child killing drink driver may have saved the guys life.

Some do, some don't. There are even insurers that specialise in covering drivers with drink drive offences.

The law accounts for such a scenario under special reasons. You have to plead guilty and you still get convicted however they can waive the ban.

Drink driving is also a criminal offence so it goes on your record as well as you license for 11 years. So it could lead to alsorts of problems with employment etc.

RE: insurance, most comparison sites ask for 5 years only although I will be careful and check with whoever I go with. One has already automatically removed it from my details. My quotes reduce by half so I no longer need pay teenager rates.

It's one mistake nor worth making. People assume it's like getting caught speeding and generally don't care. Let alone care about the possibility of an accident.

So if when he was driving the heart attack victim he crashed and killed a mini bus full of orphans?
