Being fond of my ability to hear noises I wear earplugs whilst riding, however friends and countrymen extol the benefits of custom moulded ones.

As I like to listen to music whilst riding I'm looking for a company that can create moulded earplugs and - ideally - incorporate specific earphones/drivers into them.

So far I have found Ultimate ear something or other. Having nothing to compare their £170 quid against I'm after your recommendations please!

I would be interested in this also :) going to see what's on offer at the bike show this month, you can usually get them moulded and made there.

I've never tried listening to music whilst riding. Do the masses think it's safe?

Genuine question by the way, I don't go in for trolling.

I'm not sure what the law says, but I'm sure I came across something that mentioned that it was okay as long as you were still totally aware of your surroundings.

As a drummer, I wear custom moulded in-ear monitors (IEMs) every time I sit down on a drum kit. I bought my IEMs from a company called ACS through my local audiologist. The audiologist took some impressions and sent them off to ACS. I had the IEMs back in about two weeks.

If you want to go for something custom moulded, Shure and Ultimate Ears seem to be considered two of the best companies to go with. You'll likely want at least two or three drivers (high and low or high mid and low) and this will cost you around £250 - £700, depending on how much you want to spend and which model and company you choose. If you don't want to spend as much, you can get custom moulded sleeves for Shure, Etymotic, Ultimate Ears and Sennheiser earphones like these.
