Hi all,

At the moment my crunching empire consists of 2 machines:

Main home rig
i5 650 @ 3.2Ghz = ~5k ppd
Nvidia GT340 = ~3.7k ppd

Garage cruncher
i7 860 @ 3.8Ghz running bigadv = ~20-30k ppd (not sure of exact figure as i can't remote onto box at time of writing)
Nvidia GTX460 = ~11k ppd

I'm wondering, if i ditch the GT340 and replace it with the 460 out of the other box, leaving that soley to crunch bigadv, could i cover the loss of the 340 using a linux VM crunching bigadv and still make more ppd?

Both machines are on 24/7.

You could probably move the GTX460 from the garage to the main rig and use vmware on the garage cruncher and get similar output for less power/heat/hassle.

Well i finally swapped the graphics cards over, my main machine is now crunching smp + gpu on the 460.

The garage cruncher is only doing bigadv on the linux vm at 33mins per frame, the gt340 is not being used.

The increase in bigadv ppd should cover the loss of the 340, time will tell!
