At the risk of sounding like an advert thread, I was wondering whether I could ask the advice of Motors.
I'm working abroad for 6 months-ish in October and due to my job situation changing when I get back I am looking to buy a different car when I return to the UK. With that in mind I thought I would sell my car privately before I go, rather than keep it for trading in. It's a 2005 3.0i BMW Z4 with just under 70k on the clock.
Autotrader's valuation tool has given me an estimated value between £7,250 - £7,750. Looking at Autotrader ads, that seems a good price. Is that tool an accurate assessment of what I can expect to sell it for privately?
How much is that price likely to differ if I sell the car now than if I were to sell it in September/October?
I understand I'm more likely to find a buyer quickly at the moment, with the good weather and summer ahead of us. I'm confident it'd be a relatively straightforward sale. However, part of me would like to keep it for as long as possible but I am worried about having to rush to sell it for a massively reduced price after summer, especially if my departure date changes at short notice. That said, I do have my motorbike for transport if I do sell it now and I only have a weekly commute with minimal luggage.
TL;DR: Motors, should I sell my convertible NOW or after summer? If the latter, how much less can I expect to sell the car for?
