Hey

So looing to upgrade my headphones and considering options. Currently I am running an Xonar STX driving some HD595s I have had since 2009. I use them for gaming (FPS & MMORP) and music so they need to be a jack of all trades.

I previously had a pair of HD800s that I did the Dupont mod, but honestly running them off the Xonar STX wasn't really my cup of tea for music (great for orchestra and some rock, terrible for anything electronic and hip hop in my opinion). They likely needed investment in a better DAC / Amp too which was out of budget.

Anyhow revisiting this now as the Audeze Mobius caught my eye, 80% of the LCD 2 sound at 1/4 the price (second hand). Also means wouldn't be reliant on the STX anymore so could sell, and possibly move to ITX next year. I guess the question is, is this a sound improvement (for anyone who has tried) or am I going down the wrong path? Ideally I think I would prefer to try some LCD2 classics, but not sure it is really worth the premium.

Thoughts wise people of OCUK :)

Well bought them. Just playing wildfire by Little Dragon right now. ******* awesome. Very happy. The bass is lush, treble good, mids a little recessed and closed off, but still a large upgrade.

Only thing is getting a bit of a hiss in the background
