I've been out of the HW enthusiast scene for roughly about 12 months now & starting to find out that my once top spec PC, is now low-mid spec PC.
Anyhow, just started playing a new HL Mod - Fortress Forever & my x1950 pro overheating issues have arose. Never before been a problem till I've tried this game which is bizarre, anyhow I've read on various forums etc that this problem is fairly wide-spread due to the VR on the PSC not being adequately cooled. This is causing allsorts of problems to me at the moment in terms of reboots after a few minutes play, reaches stupid tempretures on ATITOOL stress tests.
I've tried the usual, re-seating, clearing dust (yes there was a lot!)
I'm now in two minds:-
My mobo is an Asus P5W DH Deluxe SKT 775, rest of my spec is below I'm currently running a Corsair HX520 PSU also.
So what I want to know really is if I go for option two will I be able to run a new mid-range GPU without having to upgrade any other part of my system?

I'm now in two minds:-
- Buy an Accelero X2 with the modified VR Heat Spreader to see if this solves the cooling problem
- Buy another mid-range GPU 4850 or w/e
